Baby #2--16 Weeks!

Life in General
Time seems to be flying by! We had a pretty uneventful week last week, but a busy weekend! Saturday was lefse making day! Corbin and I loaded up and headed to Hallock for the day. Corbin and Axel had a blast hanging out with Grandpa, while the girls made lefse! It was really delicious and I think turned out to be the best we've ever made! Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the two busy boys chasing each other around.

Sunday was also entirely too busy for my liking as I had a FULL sheet cake to bake and make frosting for so I can decorate it tonight! Let's just hope my little helper isn't as interested in frosting as he normally is.... :)

Looking forward to Halloween this weekend!! Dad always goes all out and does a "haunted yard"! Glad it worked out so we'll be able to be up and help with that!! More pictures to come in next week's update!

Pregnancy Symptoms
I really could just copy and paste what I wrote down for last week. Still feeling pretty awesome overall. I do however have one issue that has come back with a VENGEANCE this pregnancy.....

Symphysis Pubis Disfunction:
During pregnancy or birth, about one in 35 women will experience intense pelvic pain and may find it difficult to walk, climb stairs, and other movements that involve the pelvic bones. This pain is a result of separation of the symphysis pubis which is a joint in the very front part of the pelvic bone structure. There is cartilage that fills the gap in the bones. During pregnancy, hormones such as relaxin soften this cartilage allowing the pelvic bones to be more flexible for delivery. Some women, however, have too much play in the pelvis causing a large gap between the bones. This makes the symphysis pubis area extremely sensitive to touch.
It's awful. It wasn't this bad when I was pregnant with Corbin, and it has started much earlier this time. Corbin accidentally stepped on my inner hip area where this joint is, and OH MAN I almost screamed out in pain! Ugh, not fun...but thankfully it usually goes away after birth.

New name--and 15 week baby update!

Notice the new name change! It's time to add on the other member of our family! Corbin is going to be a big brother, if you hadn't heard!

I borrowed (ok, stole) this blog layout from a friend who has a great organized blog for her pregnancies, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks, Amy!! Corbin will still get his own updates from time to time, and baby will hopefully get an update each week using this format! ENJOY! :)

Life in General
Life has been busy for us lately! We seem to hardly ever be home in the evenings without something to do. We've been spending lots of time with family on both sides, which is fun for Corbin to see his cousins. We spent all afternoon/evening Sunday cheering on my parents at StartUp weekend in Grand Forks. They have a brilliant idea that has the potential to help millions of people, and it was truly amazing seeing this as a reality. They deserve this win!!

Tim and I also got to have a much needed day date after harvest was completed! It was so fun to go see a movie (The Intern--highly recommend!), do some shopping, and take our time eating at Red Lobster! Harvest was a success this year, and they're just working to finish up field work and putting things away before the shop work season begins. I'm excited to get life back to normal.

Pregnancy Symptoms
I've actually been feeling pretty great!! I get full easily, and in the evenings tend to not eat as much...and then I wake up starving! I have moments of nausea, but it's usually brought on by a smell or something that I think would make anybody nauseous. Finally feeling like I'm getting some energy back---until it's like 9:00 and I'm curled up on the couch under a blanket. Then all bets are off on how long I'll stay awake!

Baby Updates
Baby C is now about the size of an orange, about 4 inches long and approximately 2.5oz! Baby C's legs are catching up with the rest of his body proportion-wise. He can also sense light too, so if I were to shine a flashlight at my tummy, he'd likely turn away from it. Before long, his taste buds will be in place, and he'll be able to taste.

Weekly Questions
Exact Weeks/Days Pregnant:  15 weeks
What size is the baby right now?  Approximately the size of a orange.
Weight gain/loss:  up 1 lb this week--still 1 lb under pre preg weight
Maternity clothes? My pants have pretty much all transitioned, but still wearing mostly non maternity tops
Stretch marks?  Nothing new
Sleep? It's been great except for the random bouts of insomnia around 4am
Best moment this week? Mom and Dad winning StartUp weekend :)
Symptoms: some round ligament pains, sore hips.
Food cravings: Nothing in particular at the moment
Food aversions: I FINALLY gave in and tried some bbq sauce yesterday when looking at the bottle in the fridge didn't want to make me puke, and I think I might be over that aversion!!!
Gender: Have been feeling girl the whole time--wondering how real that feeling is, though...
Belly button in or out? In
Movement? Little flutters
What I miss? Being able to do T25 and working on getting into shape.
What I'm looking forward to: Making lefse with Mom and Sis this weekend!
Milestones: Finally feeling like I look pregnant...

"Hereyago, Mommy" and other recent happenings

Corbin's new favorite saying is "Hereyago, Mommy" or "Hereyago, Daddy" or pretty much anybody he's talking to! We've been really working on getting him to use the words he knows instead of just whining. It's been fairly helpful! It's nice to know what he wants instead of trying to guess. We had a busy few weekends around our house!

One weekend in September, we had Axel over! The boys had SO MUCH FUN together and were so well behaved! I was exhausted by the end of the weekend since it was the middle of harvest, but how could you not love spending a weekend with these two cuties?!

We also got to have Aspen come over and play! Unlike how Axel is clearly the follower at this point, Aspen just might be the instigator in this cousin relationship! She wasn't doing much following, but Corbin sure let her try things before he would--I have a feeling we'll have our hands full with these two! It's so fun for him to have a cousin on each side of the family who is the same age!

Some of our other recent favorite things include:

"Mane-o Thoop!" (a reference to whatever kind of soup he's eating). It's obviously a favorite food of his, because he's been eating at least 3 bowls of whatever kind of soup we have!

"Meemo!" He's also in love with Finding Nemo. That DVD is currently in his DVD player in the car, and it's the only movie he'll sit through in it's entirety. I'm nervous about trying a new movie for fear of him throwing a fit!!

Giving Jersey a treat in the morning. It's part of our "routine" now....

Sitting on the couch, grabbing a blanket, and kicking out the footrest of the recliner. Every time Corbin or someone else sits down, he makes sure all of those things are done! haha.

We're also working on bottom 2 year molars. They've been causing trouble for quite a while now, and he's been a drooling machine and not sleeping as late as he usually does. COME ON TEETH!!!!!

This boy is all grown up. He had his second "school picture" taken! I can't get over how adorable this picture is, but I may be biased! :)

TWO!

I'm not sure how it's possible, but it is....we have a 2 year old!! We're still working on getting him to accept that....he still says "ONE!" before changing his mind to "Two" when asked how old he is!

We had a great birthday party celebration yesterday! We decided to keep it a little more low key this year with just our immediate families and a few of Corbin's friends! Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was the theme this year, and boy did we have an excited kid when he woke up from nap and saw all the decorations!!! He couldn't believe how much Mickey was in our house! :) He had such a great day!!

A few questions about the birthday boy:

As you can see, our birthday boy keeps us quite busy these days!! He's such a little lover who gives the best hugs and kisses, and doesn't like to let certain people leave the house without a kiss on the lips! Yesterday, it was "Ungle" Evan who couldn't be without a good sloppy kiss!!

We're so lucky to have such an awesome photographer right in the family! Thanks for all the great pictures, Grandpa Loren! :)

Current Likes & Dislikes--20 month edition

Likes

  • Jersey
    • She's pretty much Corbin's favorite person. He is so excited every day when we get home and they run around and chase each other all night long. He's really helpful to let her out to "potty" so we have to make sure we keep the storm door locked :) He also will come get one of us if she needs to be let in. They are pretty much best buds!
  • Tractors
    • Corbin really loves riding in the tractor and playing with his tractors at home! Every night after he gets his jammies on, he has to say "Night tractors" to the tractors on his shelf. He scoots around on his little tractor as often as he can, too!

  • Talking!
    • Corbin is constantly talking. It's been really fun over the past month or so as his language is really starting to develop! His current favorite word is "no" whenever someone asks him a question. Even when I ask him if he wants a snack he says, "no"! Yeah right, kid!!! He also really enjoys "uh oh" and will let you know if there's something wrong or if something happened that shouldn't have happened! He made sure to let his Auntie know that her bathtub faucet was dripping and that her toilet seat was up!!! "Uh oh!!"
    • He also has a pretty broad list of names of people he knows. We go through the whole list as I'm loading him in his car seat. He loves pointing out people's faces on pictures, too!
  • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
    • He's obsessed. We bought him little figurines from the show and it was the best $12 we've spent in a long time!! He loads them all up in his Mickey Mouse wagon, and can name them all. It's our weekend morning routine to get up and watch Mickey in our jammies! :)

  • Climbing up and down stairs

  • Being told No!
  • Having to come inside from playing
  • The iPad being taken away
  • Not being able to constantly stand in the garage and hear his echo when he yells
  • Not feed him fast enough
  • Leaving daycare

We're anxiously awaiting warmer weather so we can get out to the lake and spend time on our new pontoon!! There is also some new playground equipment right by our trailer, so it will be a fun summer!!

17 & 18 months!

At 17 months, Corbin had his first swimming experience! We went to Fargo and stayed at the Ramada Inn with my family. He was a little nervous at first, and not a huge fan, but once we got him in the big pool, he loved it!! He was such a trooper! The boys had so much fun together!

In February, he turned 18 months!!! How is that even possible!?

Physical Development

28lb (92nd percentile) 32" (36th percentile) Head 95th percentile!

He's running around like crazy and has recently taken to climbing. He's a little shorty still, so can't quite get up on all the furniture he'd like! He's wearing size 4 diapers, but size 5 at night. He's pretty solidly wearing 18 month clothes. He's been right on track as far as sizes go since he was a baby!

He's currently working on his 2 year molars, so that's been less than enjoyable for him. Between the red cheeks, yucky diapers, drool, and chewing on everything, I hope they come fast. Thankfully his mood has been fairly great!

Speech Development

Corbin adds new words to his vocabulary daily! He'll come up with words but won't repeat them all the time. Stubborn little boy! He is really getting into repeating things that you say, too. Time to start watching what comes out of our mouths! :)

Sleep

He sleeps 12-13 hours at night, and is down to around an hour and a half nap during the day.

Food

Pretty much anything and everything. His daycare lady said that he really loves feeding him because he eats anything!

We recently had to switch daycares because ours is moving away. We were so sad to leave, but we have found another great daycare and Corbin has really seemed to be adjusting well and fitting in. He recently had one of his friends from our previous daycare start, and it was the cutest thing ever how excited they were to see each other! :)

Playing catch up!

Wow, I have neglected this blog for a long time...and I'm upset about that! I like to use this for reference when making Corbin's "yearbook" and just to have to remember all the fun memories and milestones! So, here's a recap of what's been going on:

Shortly before Halloween, Corbin started taking his first unassisted steps with confidence! It sure didn't take him long once he realized that he could let go of furniture/someone's hand....now he's RUNNING all over! He got to be a ring bearer in his Uncle Jeffy and Auntie Britt's wedding in November! He did so good and was so handsome! We had a great Christmas with both sides of the family and the extended Younggren family! Corbin was so spoiled, of course, but he really uses everything he got, so I consider that a win! His vocabulary is expanding more and more every day. He seems to pick up new words all the time and is still constantly talking, whether we can understand him or not!

He really loves "Shshe" (Jersey). As soon as we get home, it's the first thing he says and she's the first one he looks for, and is chasing her around and playing with her all day/night long! He likes to grab her "sheep" and run around with it, but gets mad when she takes it away....he forgets it's not his. His other favorite words are of course, "tractor", "mamamama" (for grandma, when the Ipad rings for Facetime),  "Mama" "Dada", "gock-ey" (hockey), "guck-ey" (yucky), "mooo" when asked what a cow says, and last night he successfully said "popotamus" for hippopotamus. The hippopotamus comes from his FAVORITE book, so after working on that one, he said it a couple times, but I don't know that it'll stick around quite yet! :)

He has a favorite book, but he's obsessed with pulling out all his books from his shelf, sitting on them, and paging through them all. He's also obsessed with ceiling fans, and if you have one and it's not turned on, he'll point and ask you about it until you turn it on! He's really good at putting his hands up when he's wondering where things went or when he's wondering something. He also enjoys dancing, tickling your feet (his dad taught him that one), finding your bellybutton, blowing raspberries on your belly, and being tickled. He also enjoys hitting his hockey puck with the stick and if you play a fun game with him one time, that's alllll he wants to play! Oh, and he's in love with brushing his teeth! He does a pretty good job, too!

No need to talk about food, or sleep. Those are his two favorite things! :) I've loved every age of course, but I'm REALLY loving this age! He's so fun, interacting, copying us, and is so happy and goofy! Love this kid!
